OLED is pretty much the best hope for plasma owners.
I think it's down to one manufacturer, LG.
Good news is they seem pretty dedicated to it.

That's what I think but its going to be a few years until the price comes down to where plasmas were. My DLP tv just started developing white out pixels and I spent about $400 replacing the part rather than to buy into today's uncertainty. The 4k tvs have no sources and no agreed upon tech yet. I figure this will shake out in 2 - 3 years.
Right On! LCD/LED is no comparison for Plasma
Now, will LG pick up the engineering talent that brought us the 60 series? The VT60 may have been the finest TV ever made.
Not to forget that Panasonic got talent from Pioneer when the KURO line closed.
LG is the last game in town. I don't see the incentive, however to make the ultimate Plasma.
Sure, a great picture. BUT. 1080 is now so last year. 4k is where it's at and I don't think you can make a plasma with such small cells. Just a thought.
Too much is never enough
The price needs to come down a lot before I can afford a 65 inch model to replace my Viera.
