You have a blu ray player connected to a home theater receiver through analogue ic = you listen to the player's dacs.
You have a blu ray player connected to a home theater receiver through digital ic = you listen to the receiver's dacs
You have a blu ray player connected to a home theater receiver through hdmi = which dacs are you listening to,the player's or the receiver's ?

Since HDMI is a digital interface, my assumption would be that you would be listening to the DAC in the receiver.
