Out of boredom and nursing my dog bitten by another pit I watched original Alien which I actually never saw thinking it would be terribly obsolete. It's not. 50 years later tech didn't move forward one bit. I loved the smoking and baseball caps. Sigourney's rosy cheeks of youth are not to be missed.

It's a true classic for good reason and its offspring poor variations on the theme..., posted on April 24, 2025 at 16:33:08

Whereas Alien: Romulus is simply an updated, fresh remake that holds its own.

Lots of real disappointment to be watched in the span between, with the
occasional, brief moment of brilliance.

I already went through almost all spin offs to knock myself out.

Prometheus and its sequel Alien Covenant are two of the worst movies of all time. Idiotic claptrap that make no sense and barely relate to the original Alien.

You forgot to mention plot holes the size of the Grand Canyon.

. . . and female leads with the personalities and appeal of fence posts.

with progression of "modernity". One can't escape the thought that space exploration became refuge of male misfits, crybabies and simple imbeciles haha.
I don't watch sci-fi to make a sense of it or accuse it of sensible plot and cohesive narrative. It should be visual, so I watched both Prometheus and Covenant with a mild pleasure.
