I am in the process of adding dyn 1.1 for surrounds to contour 2.8
main L&R.

I still have to pick an amp to drive and was considering ATI 1505 or Parasound 1205.

which I use to view movies made in the late 1950's at our home in NH and in Ulverston (home of Stanley Laurel) England. The color is superb, much better than anything I've seen on video. I usually play a nice $5 cd of Barber's works, but I can't say why, it just happens. There's nothing better yet than light through film...

I don't think a helicopter chase/explosion would be an improvement. More sex would be nice...

My HT system is basicly composed of a 46" SONY rear screen (top of the line in it's size about 6 or 7 years ago). I don't have surround set-up at present due to the fact that I'm currently running 4 Ohm speakers off of my surround receiver [i.e. a 10 year old Pioneer Dolby Surround model with "amateur" logic ;-)]. Once I get my high performance stereo in place I'll consider upgrading my HT environment. Considering the ongoing introduction of HDTV and unresolved issue of which competing sound format will dominate (DTS & SDDS), I'm content to wait.

I also have a Panasonic/Prism LX1000 LD/CD Player (also top of the line in it's day), and a recently acquired Pioneer D404 DVD Player (I waited on DVD until I was satisfied most of the bugs were worked out of the system). BTW, as you can see I definitely do not suffer from early-adopteritis. (grin)

The subharmonic synth is easy, since it's not "volume sensitive" like the dynamic range enhancers. As for the latter, I have two choices: (1) use four channels on the L/C/R plus LFE, post volume control, and adjust the trigger level for each volume, or (2) find a place to modify the DSP-A1 to get 6 outputs after the DD/DTS decoding and then go back in using the 6 inputs ( usually for external decoder ).

DOES ANYONE HAVE A GOOD SUGGESTION FOR WHERE I CAN GET THIS MOD DONE ???

mtrycrafts	You may want to contact an outfit called, MTB or something, that modified/s LD players to add AC3 and DTS outs. Perhaps they have an answer or a direction for you to go. Unfortunately I have no more info. perhaps someone else knows of this outfit better.

The first time i posted here about placement in my 12x20 room you were the first to respond Clayton. In case I didn't mention it at the time it was to place my Pioneer receiver and combo Bose,KLH speakers! Since that time (in January I think) here's what I've got:

Boy, have you upgraded. You have areal nice setup. I can see the reduction in the 401K. But, you know what, if you don't live to cash in the 401, what good was it. I would not worry about the TV right now. Not a good time to be buying one. I am going to wait till mine bites the dust and by then HDTV should be down in cost and more available, although I have a CBS local broadcasting primetime right now along with PBS. But I am not going to lay down that kind of money on a first generation HDTV.

My primary consideration was actually 2 channel that could be easily integrated into HT as I have I don't have the luxury of a separate music room. Anyway, here goes:

Marantz AV-550 pre-amp, nice cheap processor w/wonderful remote connected to a VTL 2.5 via processor loop.

Belles 150A 3 channel on fronts

Marantz 2270, old 1975 vintage receiver, using amps only to drive rears. This will change next week as I'll be upgrading the 2 channel amp for the mains and moving the Belles to center/rear duties.

Vandersteen 3As, 2-2W subs, VCC and VSMs

Toshiba 32" TV, excellent cheap TV that I might upgrade when the LCD HDTVs get cheap, geez I'm cheap ;)

JVC SVHS and Sony VCRs, no DVD yet. I'm primarily a renter so I've resisted that acquisition thus far, maybe this year when the local Hollywood video expends their DVD rental selections.

OK Mike, I just finished building the HT a few months ago, so I can talk about this one.
The following are built into a wall with plenty of access behind. Toshiba H95-61" RPTV, Studio 80 mains, Paradigm in-walls for front effects, Paradigm CC-450, and two Velodyne HGS-10 subs. The platform, and speaker boxes were made with 1" MDF, left open in the back. The equipment rack, also 1" MDF, was built into a wall around the corner from the TV, so as not to distract from the screen. It holds a Yamaha DSP-A1, JVC SHiFI VCR, Yam S700 DVD, and NAD seperates for audio in another room. Rear speakers are also Studio 80's. Everything is controlled by a Philips Pronto(just got) with a RS ir extender. Lights (sconces and wall washes) and fan are also remote controlled. The speaker wires for the rears and the audio are run under the house, and inside the walls, then terminated to Niles speaker plates. A seperate line was run to a 35" Mits. TV in the family room for viewing on a smaller scale. The room is approx. 18x14x10, dedicated to HT. The walls are painted dark burgandy, with custom milled white crown mouldings and baseboards. A black leather, U shaped couch and ottomans can seat eight to ten. All art work and odds and ends are movie themed.
Building this room and system brought me back into the audio side again, and upgrading that part is my next project. Funny thing though Mike, I had alot more fun building the HT, then I've had using it.
