Cpt. Piller (Claes Bang) is a Dutchman (in Canadian uniform) in charge of running down art thieves and profiteers funneling art treasure to the 3rd Reich. Enter the big fish: Han Van Meergeren (Pearce) seller of many Vermeers to Goering and other "art lovers".

Beautifully set, this film offers an interesting and compelling story of a flamboyant art dealer/artist played with humor and insight offset by his accuser who begins to slowly unravel the real Van Meergeen while fending off the relentless, oddly Gestapo-like, Dutch government investigator looking for another firing squad victim. There is drama and there is humor. Enjoy.

but because it is a 2019 release it must be somewhere. I shared it with one other viewer at the matinee.

Thanks - haven't found it yet, but it should show up somewhere fairly soon [nt], posted on November 22, 2020 at 12:56:52
