André Dussollier brilliantly plays a political operative who recruits a young "has been" writer to produce a book that will aid in the ouster of a French cabinet minister. The writer, played by Melvil Poupaud, was "leftist-connected" in his youth when he wrote his hit book. The result of his new book necessitated his fleeing Paris to commune with prior leftist cronies to preserve his life.

This film gives a bit of a deep dive at the complexities of French politics and how far people will go to affect change. The story and dialog are of an elevated nature raising it above the normal flotsam that inhabits broadcast cinema.
