It had have been in the late '70s and I thought that Roy Scheider was in the flick, but it centered around two 'National Guard/Reseve' units that meet in the snowy woods of the North East. Something happens and one guy from one team gets accidently killed while out of maneuvers and his team blames the other unit.
They end up going after each other and battle it out for real in those same snowy woods. Kind of cat-n-mouse like.
I've searched RS and don't see what I'm talking about in his film bio.
