I had cautiously eye-balled this via Red Box for a few weeks. I thought it might be absolutely awful but to my surprise, it wasn't. Depp plays an English instructor at a ruling-class, ivy-covered, New England college. He finds that he is terminal with lung cancer (despite not being a smoker) and quickly begins to enjoy the freedom death can bring. He becomes who he has always wanted to be.

His wife has been having affairs and his best friend (Danny Huston) becomes a loving, whimpering basset hound. (I wondered if he had ever played a "good guy" and this is it.)

Reasonably intelligent dialog make this a "dark" comedy. Decide for yourself.
