"Hagazussa: A Heathen's Curse." A classic! Horror that is thickly atmospheric,

original, haunting, brooding--- and a lot more. What it is not is formulaic. If you like slash and gore--- this ain't for you. Cinematography and music frame the film which is broken into four parts: very little is spoken.

It's 15th century rural Germany and a mother in an isolated forest cabin whom the villagers suspect of being a witch becomes ill, forcing her equally reclusive daughter to tend to her. The isolation brings its own dangers and, slowly, the daughter descends further and further into the mother's world, witchcraft.

Advisedly NOT for the impatient; however, for those who immerse themselves, horror and fear will be their reward. The daughter is a sensational talent, Angelika Cwen: she immediately ascends to the top of young actresses.

Lukas Feigelfeld is the director: this is the greatest debut in contemporary film history.
