Watched this one last night and I thought it was a solid effort. I guess its best described as a modern (early 1980's?) film noir with William Hurt playing a small time lawyer and Kathleen Turner as the lonely/under-sexed wife of a very rich man. BH has a clever plot that moves along at a good pace without getting too unbelievable or implausible.

Hurt's character has the same mellow/monotone personality as his Vietnam Vet character in the Big Chill. (I assume this lethargic demeaner was not the director's suggestion, but more likely the extent of Hurt's acting range?) Anyway it works fine in Body Heat as a contrast to the lovely Kathleen Turner who does a very convincing job as the femme fatale. Rounding out the cast is a small part by a young Mickey Rourke as (you guessed it) a criminal and "Sam from Cheers" (Ted D.) with a full head of naturally dark black hair. Kind of tough for me not see Ted D. as Sam from Cheers but maybe that's just me..........
Anyway check it out if you like film noir, I don't think you'll be disappointed. Not sure if its on DVD yet as my copy is on Laserdisc.
