Jokes aside, this is a terrific version, every bit as good as Olivier's turn.
Ophelia, usually made out as a flighty nutcase, here is well-fleshed out by a very talented and beautiful young woman.
It doesn't hurt that the music is by... Shostakovich.
Cinematography: splendid.
Shakespeare through the brilliant filter of first-class Russian film genius: it doesn't get any better!
