"Juno:" I saw the movie I thought I'd resist like the plague but the kid

was seeing "Alvin..." and I'll be damned if I'll spend an hour and a half listening to a bunch of chipmunks.
Anyhow, SHOCK, it was very good.
Take all the clichés about the abortion/choice topic, put them into a blender, and you'd have the predictability of this film.
A fiery, independent young girl has a social relationship with a nerd but one day, in his room, she gets a bit "feisty" and not long after, she finds out biology has done it's job.
The boy isn't interested in marrying her but he is supportive, he says, of whatever she wants to do whether carrying to term for keeping or adoption, or abortion.
Since she has discovered she is pregnant relatively early on, she has the luxury of exploring some options. On a whim, she contacts a couple who has advertised a willingness to adopt.
It is the relationship between this young, yuppie couple and Juno and that of Juno and her young "boyfriend" that are the core.
Much has been made of the cleverness of Juno's dialogue: I found the writer tried way too hard to appear so.
But, in spite of that, I enjoyed the film and actually it disturbed my set ideas about this explosive topic.
How many films can one expect to do that?
See it.
(The supporting players, especially the boy and Juno's Dad are very good, too).
