Home Films/DVD Asylum

Movies from comedy to drama to your favorite Hollyweird Star.

Don't bother with "Code Unknown," "71 Fragments....," "Benny's Video."

All three are pretty bad though I'm a fan of both "Funny Games" and "Cache."
I hope you saw the original FG and not his American remake? I thought it was a terrifyingly real experience, a definite cut way above the average thriller.
I think a lot of this German's films are showing how shocking everyday terror is and then letting the memory of the Holocaust gradually put it into perspective.
It is strange to reflect how what the Nazis did is horrible but not scary in a sense of more individual actions, such as in FG. Perhaps it has to do with the fact that collective action, with the blessing of society, rules (no matter how twisted and insane), and disciplined acts, are parts of everyday life whereas insanity for singular purposes are more rare and seem worse because of the seeming randomness and unpredicatability?
