sense of humor.
I think that's the key to Korean comedy: it's very dark; there's almost always a foreboding, a sense of disaster. I imagine having a lunatic leading the country right next door may have something to do with it? Actually, it's not that far off from the Russian or Slavic sense though it's less fatalistic and depressing.
