"Fabled": Going crazy perfectly done with a Brit accent . . . .

Joseph Fable is a Brit working in America. His girlfriend just ditched him for his (and her) psychiatrist who is a clone of Peter Sellers. His big hulking redheaded friend is constantly trying to calm him down, Joseph is hearing more and more voices everyday, he's being followed everywhere, people are openly talking about him within earshot, and his dog ran off a week ago. Joseph has problems and no one seems to be able to calm him down.

The dramedy is accompanied by the narration of a precisely spoken Brit child who reads the words that appear on the screen. It is the tale of an old wolf and an evil crow and it plays heavily against the plot of the film. The problem is, by the end of the movie we still aren't sure who were the fox and crow--despite the clues.

Desmond Askew plays Fable who is losing a little bit more of his mind in every scene. He does it brilliantly with the help of smart dialog and a capable supporting cast. It's too bad Fable just couldn't find the truth of his situation and it was a BIG temptation to watch the director's narrated cut just to find out what was really happening.

There was a running joke throughout the film: Fable's girlfriend and dog have gone missing and people would ask:

"Has she come back yet?"
"No, did I tell you she's been cheating on me with someone else?"
"Your dog?"

I'm not advising anyone to Netflix this as it may be just a little too crazy for you. But, naturally, I ate it up like a big bowl of grits.
