'The Imitation Game': A tidy bid for a bunch of Oscars . . .

I expected a more dramatically drawn script and film but instead got a bright, bouncy, mega-millions film production featuring popular actors, terrific production values, and this year's cause: gay people.

Last year it was slaves suffering 150 years ago, now it's gay people suffering 50+ years ago. After the credits my head cleared and I realized this wasn't about a heroic, cryptographic struggle but about a gay man, the archaic British justice system, and the people who touched his life ever so briefly.

Well, the acting was there. Dance, Strong, Cumberbun, Knightley, and all the rest were pretty much superb. (Why doesn't that type of acting occur in our films outside of the rare Indie treats?)

It will be interesting to see if Oprah's poor, struggling black people will grab gold with "Selma" (BHO was conceived here.) or will the latest gay struggle gain Oscar traction? This is going to be interesting.

Um, pretty much liked the film except it was a "movie" not so much a serious "film". Well done, but like Hawking's bully pulpit, it is a film for profit and awards.
