Nothing better to do. I did a quick google search of showtimes in my zip to see what was showing. Nothing much of interest so I opted for the devil I thought I knew, Jurassic World. IMAX 3D.

Going in I had certain expectations from the film. They were all met.
Perhaps this movie took a turn for the serious. Much innocent human blood was shed. This type of action had my concern as much as it had my attention. It was more than I expected.

Excellent CGI. The creatures are as well developed as this series has seen so far. I expected that the technique and talent that went into that first ground breaking movie in 1992 would have improved over the years with advances in hardware, software and developing artistic talent. It has. No disappointments there. These guys really know how to draw a dinosaur.

The 3D was good, although I don't seem to have any memory of having a velociraptor jump in my lap. Still, the IMAX experience is very very good. Quite the visual spectacle. Sometimes I go in just for that.

The designated blond/red head running away from dino's in her high heels did amazingly well in spite of the obvious handicap. And showed a little growth in character throughout her ordeal.

No lawyers were eaten afaik. But one war-mongering soldier of fortune type, under employ of the evil INGEN corp, was. Justice was served by a single velociraptor....and not all that quickly. Chomp, crunch. There goes the right forearm. Sudden screams. Camera rotates away as much blood is seen to splatter on the walls amidst more chomping and crunching noises. And the screams. The screams seemed real. Not an approximation. Realistic.

I was a little disappointed to see the treatment dealt out to actress Katie McGrath (Zora) by some rather vicious pteradactyls. At first it looked like she might escape, but no. This movie served up plenty of cruelty along with its action sequences.

All in all, I was not disappointed. The movie delivered what I was looking for, A momentary escape from reality. The 70mm IMAX venue is a real keeper.
