One point: The news reported that Power's U-2 flamed out and had to drop from max altitude in order to restart his engine. Being at a lower altitude brought him into range of Russian SAMs which brought him down. The movie shows him being forced down from 70K feet because of missiles not a flame out. Knowing how all governments love to mislead I wouldn't be surprised that was the correct version.

Second point: Powers mumbles to Donovan that he told them nothing. Not sure that's what happened or not but he did get decorations posthumously for his service.
