I finally saw it too, and I'd almost say that "The Remnant" would have been a better title

Here we have a film about some bunches of men who are, mostly, just trying to make a living. But what remains when we feel that we must substitute "making a living" for "having a life"? What remains is a remnant of human potential, and the root of all evil. This film has a type of "realism" (and occasionally, a type of "magic realism") that effectively translates to an impoverished look befitting this harsh, reductionist ethic. The "actors" often seem like more "props" than personalities, subservient as they are to the torrents of imagery and action.

Which is probably as it should be for a film of this type...
