I found this movie disappointing - especially after trusting an impressive Rotten rating and gushing reviews. While religious propaganda was sprinkled in with expertise, this film rode like an X- rated (for violence) Disney movie. The characters were one-dimensional and mostly shallow. Sure, I respected the characters principles - but in between the lines was a off-putting message... the right to "express ones own beliefs". In this political climate I see that as a slippery slope that leads to the rewriting of evolution, the omission of science and a general intolerance for anyone outside the cookie cutter.
And compared Private Ryan - the cinematography looked totally 2nd rate.
I give it a C minus, at best. Band of Brothers and Saving Private Ryan are vastly superior films without the Bible beating.
