Black vs. Grey side bars?

To prevent screen burn-in, is it better to have black or grey side bars when displaying standard 4:3 broadcasts in wide screen format?
I know stretching 4:3 broadcasts in wide screen format is the best way to avoid burn-in, but I disklike the distorted image (in Full or Zoom). So, as a second choice, is black or grey better for the side bars?
