If you are only using them for HT I would not be too concerned PROVIDED your mini monitors can take the occasional heavy signal.

Generally accepted view is that they should match characteristics with the mains so, provided you have good bass management and the sound characteristics of your choices are similar, then use the minis.

If you become diasisfied with that you can always change later but I would guess the minis would meet with a higher WAF if that is an issue.
