I worked in SVHS editing & hi8mm editing & Macrovision wasn't a worry with any 8mm gear. It looks to be an internal problem. Today dvd's have a much greater copyguard than the old Macro. & some even display a vertical rainbow stripe on monitors. Macro screws up the video's vertical blanking interval, but most vhs is on the way out. 1st use of Macro was the film "The Cotton Club back in '84....
