I'm not familiar with the Onkyo,but I have a Yamaha receiver that provides subwoofer output if you choose the "small" setting for the main speakers,and gives you the choice of sending the bass to the subwoofer or to the mains.
If the Onkyo is unable to do this,you can use the speaker level inputs to the subwoofer,which I assume it has.
