Try to buy a TV that will display 480P. The ability to play progressive scan DVDs is amazing, Its a huge jump from interlaced TV. A poor man's HDTV if you will. I wouldn't buy a new TV unless it could show progessive scan in 480 lines. I understand not being able to afford HDTV but if you are getting anything over 30 inches you really want 480P. TV's were made to be small and not blown up so big.
Standard television signal (480i) has been around since the 1950's when a "big screen" was 19 inches.
