It's actually an interlaced display, as opposed to plasma's usual progressive scan. However, it does give a better picture than standard interlaced, though not as good as most progressive plasmas.
The technology is from the partnership of Fujitsu and Hitachi. Other companies have used their glass in this form and just added their own electronics.
