Yes, you should use both inputs on the sub. You're missing half the fun. Actually the the "Y" should be on the reciever end, and then run 2 lines to the sub. You want that signal to be as strong as possible. At least that's what the cable sales guy told me. Never AB'd it, but it makes sense, especially with a longer run.
