I recently purchased the 30" Sony XBR and have it in a room of similar size to yours. The 30" is just right for the room. The 34" would be too large. We sit 6-8 feet from the tube. You might consider the 30" XBR. I found an "open box" set at Circuit City for $1350. Good luck.Paul
