Are these rental DVDS? I finally stopped renting DVDs due to scratches that render them unplayable through certain regions. With VHS rentals you sometimes have problems but it usually clears up. I've had a high percentage of DVD rentals that simply choke when they reach the point where the last renter's kids used them for frisbees. When I first saw a DVD some years back I knew they were doomed to failure as rentals. A protective case similar to floppy disks or optical disks would have been the way to go.
