Re: D-VHS in my future? - JVC

Hi Tosh,

Thanks for the post... I live about 70-100 miles (as the crow flies) from the nearest transmission site that has HD programming, so I am not too sure that it will be possible to receive any. I have plans for a 50' tower for amateur radio use anyway, so will probably attempt something once it is up. Do you know anything at all about the relative signal strengths of standard television transmissions and HDTV transmissions? Also, would sure be interested in what kind of antenna it requires. I have seen the little ones the CCity sells and it looks like it would only serve someone who lived in a big city with a really strong signal! To say the least, I live in a fringe area!!

The local cable company charges an arm and a leg for lousy signals that aren't even in stereo! I will not give them any of my money.

Actually, since my post, I have high bid on a JVC model 30000U player on ePay, so I guess my question is moot, but I can only hope that it will prove interesting and be a better source than my DVD player (Pioneer 45A).

Your comments and the ideas of any other inmates would be gratefully accepted...

Phil
