LCD selection help

So here's the deal, in Readers Digest form.

We have a a 42" HDTV 16:9 plasma upstairs supported with a small mid-fi receiver & M&K speakers. Prior to that we watched, and still have, a 50" 4:3 rear projection Hitachi downstairs with full surround sound.

Due to the 42" blowing away the 50" we no longer watch the 50" or enjoy the surround. The 50" simply needs to go away.

Cost is a major factor, but we're going to attempt a upgrade anyway. Assume we are selling the 50" for whatever it will get, ($500.00? it's two years old)

We looked at LCD & DLP projectors. Due to the finshed drywall over duct work we cannot use a ceiling mount projector and get an image of worthwhile size.

This leaves us looking for 16:9 with flat screens. We'll take EDTV. We cannot afford another plasma. I would consider a "skinny" rear projector, but figiure we should go for an LCD.

We would like to get as close as possible to the 42" size we have upstairs. What you anyone on this forum reccommend we look for? I would be happy to buy across to internet to lower the cost and make this happen.

Thanks, in adavnce, for any suggestions.
