Hold out for SED

SED technology is to be introduced by Toshiba later this year. Its a thin screen technology that uses what amounts to a micro-CRT for each pixel. It was developed by Canon. Reports I've read say it has the image quality of plasma at far less cost (eventually) and has no inherent degradation issues. Another one too watch is thin DLP RP; RCA has a 60" that only about 8 inches deep and can be wall-hung.

Having recently bought a big HDTV, I'm really disappointed in the dearth of HD material; network HD broadcasts are mostly 720 res (vs 1080) wasted on the "edgy" dark photography that all the dramas show seem to use, and the PBS and Discovery nature stuff in HD gets old fast. Aside from DVDs (ED) and sports (HD), which ARE superb, your not missing much.
