AVSForum will require lots of reading, but there is good content there.

www.projectorcentral.com is another good place for general HT info, with pointers on DLP, DiLA, LCD and other technologies.

Any digital projector these days will have DVI/HDMI, but in addition will also have at the very least one S, one Composite and one set of Component video as well.

My rig's a Panasonic AE700 11' away from a Carada 96" diagonal permanent screen (16:9, or 87" x 47") fed by a 45' rgb component by bluejeanscable.com.

The 700 is 720x1280, 3-chip lcd, pretty bright (so bright that in lo-power mode I'm getting an ND filter to further reduce light and drop black levels). It's not the uber-projector, but at 2000 bucks there's nothing which can touch it.

Total investment, less than 3 grand for pj, new dvdp, cable and screen (plus paint for the pj wall, shelving material, etc.)

Screaming bargain, if you ask me.

Picture? GOod enough to pass the cartoon test and the "master and commander" test. ^.^
