I own three older Sony DVD players, mostly 1st and 2nd generation units. I also have two recent Denon DVD players and one that I sold about a year ago. I have a couple hundred DVD's including a couple dozen concert DVD's and have never ever experienced any lockups or other malfunctions. Maybe I'm just lucky.
