Re: Why?

Well, I have a Denon now which has it and most of their other models do. What they know is that older STBs (such as the SA3250HD that I have) do not tolerate well an active switcher on their outputs. Works OK direct to PDP. Not Denon's fault but it is frustrating that I can switch HDMI-linked players but must use component for this STB. Cable Co. says the output is not functional but I find it is dysfunctional.

Still, I would not buy a new unit without HDMI.
