Surround palcement in sub-optimal room

I have a too small room with a too-big TV, and would like some thoughts on placement of surround speakers. The speakers are Cambridge Soundworks Surround II, switchable for bipole or dipole. The room is about 12 x 14', with a 61" Samsung DLP a couple of feet away from one of the short walls. The viewing position is centered to the screen on the other short wall, with the viewer's heads a foot or so from that wall. None of this can change. The ceiling is rather high (10' or a little more). There's a chimney running up one wall at the viewing position, and a window with drapes starting at the ceiling on the opposite wall. My choices for positioning the surrounds are pretty much

a) on the front edge of the window and the chimney, which will put the null point of the speakers, designed to be at the ear position, about 2' ahead of that
b) against the back wall above the viewer's heads
c) below and behind the viewers, with the sound bouncing off the chimney and the wall beneath the window

I should mention that we watch a lot of older movies, and whenever we watch broadcasted movies or television it's TiVoed, so we'll be listening to stereo audio Pro-Matrixed for surround 90% of the time - rarely will we be taking advantage of the discrete L/R surround Dolby Digital enables. Any thoughts?
