surround sound receiver/speaker setup

Not an audiophile here and that will become apparent with my question. I have an Onkyo tx-sr603x receiver that I run my TV and DVD through. I am not big on “surround sound” I just like the sound coming through all the speakers. I, more importantly, like listening to music (rock) through all the speakers. I had it hooked up to a Bose Acoustimass 10 speaker system. That was fine for DVD movies but not for cranking up the music. I am looking for help on setting it up to play music and I do not care if I get true surround sound. My first thought was to buy four bookshelf speakers ($350-$400 for all) and keep the Bose subwoofer. Any thoughts?
