RE: DVD player audio through Coaxial S/PDIF

Yes, the HD-XA2 downconverts all high-rez audio to 640kbps DD. The cheaper HD-A2 downconverts to 1.5mpbs DTS, but it only has a Toslink optical output. I own a PS3 (which also downconverts to 640 DD) and an HD-A2 and I cannot hear any differnce between the two. It is said that although DTS has a higher bitrate, Dolby has a more efficient compression scheme.
