Yam Rx-V659 and MX500 - and YPAO

I just bought this rec and am fooling with the remote. Anyone have any input on how to make them play together? I have been using the learn function mostly at this point.
Also, I thought once I did the YPAO thing I could see the results and fool with it. I cannot find it on the menu. And the EQ part too about 4 seconds total. Sounds fishy to me.
