Why is my picture so much better with cable tha DVD??

Hi Folks,
I just bought a used Panasonic 32" Crt 480i TV. The picture looked great when I auditioned at the folks that I bought it from(Direct TV).
When I got it home everthing looks good but flesh tones.They look kinda orange.I don't have cable just an entry level Panasonic DVD. I have ordered a set on 75 ohm compnent cables from Bluejean. I currently have it connected useing entry level XLO audio IC's.
I have checked all the settings I can think of.

Any thoughts or sugestions
