I have both TiVo and non-TiVo HD DVRs. The TiVo menu system is outstadning, making it much easier to find future programs or movies. I assume they have a patent on it. At one time DirectTV offered TiVo service without additional fee, and they continue to honor that, but the new DirectTV HD DVR does not offer TiVo service. I want at least one of our DVRs to be TiVo capable.

Early on, we had a TiVo DVR and a separate HD reciever, but you couldn't record HD. I discovered that DVR was more important to me than HD. Fortunately, we no longer have to make the choice.
