horizontal & vertical sync

As Kal said, not using them will do no harm.

The extra two cables are only useful for displays that (can) use separate horizontal & vertical sync signals (most higher end front projectors and broadcast/commercial plasmas). Besides, the Denon doesn't output separate H & V sync signals for you to use. But if you had a need for it, they could be used for audio.
