It's just lingo/specs meaning that your screen can take a 1080p signal from a blu-ray player

and process it for optimal viewing at the screen's native resolution. Even my 6-yr old Pioneer plasma could do that (it was made long before BD was introduced).

Basically, your screen will handle anything you throw at it. You just won't get that 1080p native resolution.
