I agree 100%. Purchased the inexpensive Oppo and am getting a picture that is just this side of HD while not actually being HD/Blue Ray. You will not be sorry. For an interim player that will satisfy for some time - have had the machine since last November - until the dust settles on this new Blue Ray thing, this is the way to go.
