All of the audio (except for AL24 on the Denon vs ? on the Marantz) and video processing issues that are present in the Denon 3800 are expected to be present in the Marantz 8002: in these areas, the two are identical. The Marantz step-up features from the Denon are supposedly copper shielding (More? Better?) and a "Marantz" power supply.
Ironically, both players are built by Funai (Funai, Sylvania, Symphonic, Emerson, Magnavox -- home of the $298 Blu-ray player, etc).
