.. which features an HDMI-challenged, multichannel analog preamp. I'm opting for hopefully decent Blu-ray player DAC performance over new expensive pre/pro (even if I spent five figures on a pre/pro, I doubt I could match the current preamp stage).

I'd move the existing player from the main room in to the new system; no pre/pro or speakers in this room (yet).

I'll keep an eye out for the Fry's $6.99 HDMI cables in the shopping carts. Or get something from RAM electronics or other internet sites.
