That's among the poorer BDs out there, but I agree it's light years beyond DVD

I don't quite understand the misconception that DVDs can't be improved upon. DVD is based on NTSC, a 60 yr old technology that relies on very low resolution. We're a bit beyond that now. Even if you upscale it, you're still adding no real information in the picture.
