It is always worthwhile...

to do a google on something like "vizio repairs" if you are unfamiliar with the brand. Vizio has a reputation, earned over the years. They cost what they do for a reason. In displays, unlike with much audio gear, what you get can be very directly related to the price with little "subjectivity", and usually very quickly too. Beyond the company's policies, there are only a few companies that make the panels. So you are getting what the others are getting in that regard, perhaps a different "bin level", and the rest depends on the implementation. I would take a chance for the price. But I have to say that 50" Pio plasma displays (5020) can be had for ~$1800 and I'd have to guess that would be more visually satisfying for most, if a plasma display fits your viewing circumstances.
