Thanks everyone, I did the deed, and the AVR254 is now perched atop my McIntosh tuner in the main system, so I can get a feel for how it "does the music". Currently set up as 2-channel only, with FM in "analog bypass" mode, and feeding standard CD audio in via one of the SPDIF connectors.

I like the rather stark and geometric look.

Two cooling fans! So far they haven't fired up. Hefty power transformer too, but where are the big capacitors?
