RE: 2 Subs better than one?

2 subs load the room differently to 1 sub, and even more subs like 3 or 4 subs do it differently again.

The big plus of multiple subs is that you can place them in such a way that the inevitable peaks and valleys of their response fall in different places for each sub so the listener gets a much more even bass response than is possible with a single sub. The down side of multiple subs is that you have the problem of matching arrival times and levels for each sub and blending the whole of that with the sound of the speakers. Setup is easier with one sub but the result can be noticeably better with more subs.

It's your call whether the improvement in performance is worth the cost and effort of multiple subs, but there can definitely be an improvement in performance so, yes, multiple subs are better if we're talking performance only.
